Actor Norman Reedus stars as the character Sam Porter Bridges

The latest trailer for Hideo Kojima’s upcoming video game starring The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus will likely ramp up the anticipation for the PlayStation 4 exclusive – and cause some confusion.

The PlayStation Blog posted a new, nearly nine-minute trailer for “Death Stranding,” a futuristic action game announced nearly three years ago. It’s gotten the release date of Nov. 8 and the blog has all the details on pre-ordering the game, which ranges from $59.99 to $199.99.

Viewers have been mesmerized and flummoxed before updates on the game, which pits Reedus as the world-saving character Sam Bridges, who must fight off Cataclysm. The video offers more footage of the babies housed in translucent pods (they evidently have some supernatural connective powers) and some scary dark apparitions who appear on what seems to be a World War II battlefield

Other characters have the likenesses of Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the TV series Hannibal), Lindsay Wagner (Grey’s Anatomy), Guillermo Del Toro (Oscar-winning director of Best Picture The Shape of Water) and Léa Seydoux (Zoe, and the upcoming Bond 25 film).

Interest and response to the new trailer sparked online buzz and resulted in the #DeathStranding hashtag trending on Twitter. Most cited the atmospherics and imagery as uniquely stamped by Kojima’s touch. “I am so freaking excited!” noted one tweeter. Even though the trailer is nearly nine minutes long, “I still have no idea what the game is even remotely about,” posted another Twitter user. The trailer drove some to the game’s website to do more research. “Reading the description on the official website and realizing this sounds awesome,” read another tweet.

Death Stranding: Mads Mikkelsen Talks About His Character

Mikkelsen mentioned that his background in dance greatly helped out during his work on the game- obviously, we don’t expect his character to be dancer, but perhaps Kojima made use of his natural fluidity and elegance and worked it into the character itself. “No, especially for the video game I worked on with Hideo Kojima,” he said when asked if his approach to working on a game is the same as working for a film. “My past as a dancer has been helpful to get into this character. I did ten years of ballet before being an actor and this experience allowed me to find the appropriate movements. It is various exercise compared to the cinema even if in the end we inject emotions to give life.”
