Last Male Sudan Dies

The last of its kind Sudan northern white rhinoceros died on Monday at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. As he had many health problems. Sudan was 45 years old. He was a very elderly rhino. Seems like his death was not that much shocking. He was hunted to near extinction.

As now there are only two white rhinos now remain Najin, Sudan’s daughter, and Fatu, his granddaughter. they are both at the zoo. It seems like this is a process of losing these unique animals. We can only hope that science will develop new reproductive technology in hopes of saving them.

Thomas Hildebrandt commented This is a creature that didn’t fail in evolution. Said Thomas Hildebrandt, head of reproduction management at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin and one of the project’s leaders. Northern white rhinos are a subspecies.

In the year there were 2,000 northern white rhinoceros. they seem kind of different from rhinos modern. and also they had the smaller body. some scientists demanded that white rhino should be considered a separate species. the specific reason could be habitat loss.

the increase in population. as days passed the scientists could track any northern white rhinos in the wild. but some of them remained in zoos around the world. which includes Sudan who as kept in the zoo. Jan Stejskal is the director of international projects at the Dvur Kralove Zoo in the Czech Republic.

he commented Sudan is an extreme symbol of human disregard for nature. He survived the extinction of his kind in the wild only thanks to living in a zoo.” he was the last of his kind. followed by Sudan death celebrities are posting photos of him.
